Charles Hess scrapbooks, 1912-1916.

This collection consists of two scrapbooks documenting Hess' time as a Penn State student and later. The scrapbooks include photographs of several student activities, such as football send-offs and victory bonfires, the women's basketball team, military drills, class scraps (Push-ball scrap), May Day, women's gym class, class lectures, and parade floats, and fairs. Hess also includes photographs of nearby attractions such as Mount Nittany and Hotel State College and photographs from Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Charles Edward Hess, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, entered Penn State in 1910 and graduated in 1914 with a degree in civil engineering. He later married fellow Penn State alumnus Margaret May Henry (Class of 1915), received a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1929 and lived in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania.
